First seen in 1996, this is the third installment in The King of Fighters game series. The series showcases an SNK all-star lineup, with characters from titles like Fatal Fury, Ikari Warriors, Psycho Soldier and Art of Fighting competing with each other for the title of the world's strongest fighter. KoF '96 adds some significant changes compared with past titles. It introduces small, medium and big jumps, as well as forward and backward flips, which are used as emergency escapes. It also brings with it the extra element of guarding in mid-air. The ability to oversee commands makes moves easier to perform, and projectiles have been toned down. Projectile 'spamming' is no longer a viable strategy, marking a real turning point in the KoF series.
